Alain Lopez, Assistant General Counsel, Latin America and the Caribbean

Alain Lopez joined the U.S. Trade and Development Agency in 2010, where he is currently Assistant General Counsel for Latin America and the Caribbean.

Prior to joining USTDA, Mr. Lopez was a senior associate in the Washington, D.C. offices of Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr LLP, practicing in the areas of banking and financial regulation. Mr. Lopez began his legal career in the New York offices of Ropes & Gray LLP as a corporate associate focusing on private equity and venture capital transactions.

Mr. Lopez received his undergraduate degree cum laude from the University of Miami's School of International Studies. He graduated with honors in 2005 from The George Washington University Law School, where he served as Editor-in-Chief of the Public Contract Law Journal. Mr. Lopez is a native Spanish speaker.
