USTDA ADVANCES INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPMENT IN ROMANIA
|Supports Romania's efforts to improve data management systems|
BUCHAREST, ROMANIA –The U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) continues its support for the Government of Romania to improve their use of information and communications technologies (ICT) to build a stronger economy.
Recently, USTDA Director Leocadia I. Zak and Ministry of Internal Affairs State Secretary Bogdan Tohaneanu signed a grant to fund a feasibility study to consolidate the Ministry of Internal Affairs' data centers into a single modern facility. The proposed data center will have space available for co-location and disaster recovery services. The project will promote more effective delivery of services to Romanian government entities, businesses and citizens, while simultaneously yielding substantial cost savings.
This project builds upon an earlier USTDA-funded grant to develop modern ICT solutions to streamline legislative processes in Romania. Working with State Secretary Radu Puchiu of the General Secretariat, the program will determine the economic, technical and financial feasibility of implementing a modern data management system that will allow Romanian Governmental entities to refine the legislative process. By increasing operational efficiency, this project will improve the organization of all documentation and correspondence pertaining to legislative processes, enhancing information security and data recovery capabilities while also increasing transparency.
"These projects are priorities for the Government of Romania due to their potential to improve data management and enhance government efficiency," said USTDA Regional Director Carl B. Kress. "We are pleased to connect the Government of Romania with U.S. private sector expertise in order to develop Romania's ICT infrastructure."
The opportunity to conduct the USTDA-funded feasibility studies will be competed on the Federal Business Opportunities (FBO) website. A link to the FBO announcements will be posted to USTDA's website at www.ustda.gov. Interested U.S. firms should submit proposals according to the instructions in the FBO announcements.
