September 22-October 3, 2013 : Southern Africa Intermodal Freight Reverse Trade Mission - Washington, DC; Richmond and Norfolk, VA; Indianapolis, IN; Joliet and Chicago, IL - USTDA is sponsoring a reverse trade mission (RTM) to the United States for a delegation of public and private sector representatives from Southern Africa's rail sector, to explore U.S. technologies and best practices for intermodal freight transportation.
September 28-October 4, 2013 : Turkey Geothermal Power Reverse Trade Mission - Las Vegas and Reno, NV; and the San Francisco, CA area. - USTDA is sponsoring a reverse trade mission (RTM) to the United States for a delegation of more than 10 private sector geothermal power plant developers from Turkey to explore U.S. technologies and best practices for geothermal power plants. These developers represent a majority of the more than 600 megawatts in geothermal power plants currently under development in Turkey.
September 26, 2013 : Webinar: South Africa - Sunbird Energy's Ibhubesi Offshore Gas Project - USTDA awarded a grant to Sunbird Energy Ltd to support the development of South Africa's Ibhubesi offshore gas field. Sunbird Energy has executed an agreement to acquire a 76% stake in the Ibhubesi gas project and will partner with PetroSA, the national oil company of South Africa. USTDA will host a webinar with Sunbird Energy on Thursday, September 26, 2013 at 11:00 Eastern to discuss opportunities for U.S. businesses during phased implementation of the gas project.
October 2, 2013 : Webinar on U.S. Africa Clean Energy Finance (ACEF) Initiative - USTDA will be hosting a webinar on Wednesday October 2, 2013 to inform participants of the soon to be launched ACEF Initiative. ACEF is an innovative, collaborative financing mechanism aligning U.S. government resources in new ways to catalyze significant private sector investment primarily focused on African clean energy infrastructure. The three main partners under the program are the U.S. Department of State, USTDA, and the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC).
