Arlington, VA – The U.S. Trade and Development Agency is strengthening the U.S.-Philippine Alliance through programming that will deliver economic growth to both countries and support a free and open Indo-Pacific. This week, the Agency will bring a delegation of senior energy sector leaders from the Philippines to the United States to address the Philippines’ energy security needs by building U.S. partnerships to support the deployment of U.S. smart grid technology, including artificial intelligence.
While in the United States from February 1 to 11, the 14-member delegation of senior government and private energy representatives will travel to San Diego, CA; Silicon Valley, CA; and Washington, DC. There, they will meet U.S. companies and see demonstrations of cutting-edge U.S. smart grid technologies that can improve grid efficiency in support of the Philippines’ energy security goals and defend critical infrastructure from malign influence. They will also participate in the DTECH conference and visit the Stanford Central Energy Facility.
USTDA will provide opportunities for U.S. companies to connect one-on-one with the delegation about their smart grid technologies and upcoming commercial prospects. For more information, please visit https://www.ustda.gov/events/.
The U.S. private sector is a recognized leader in advanced energy distribution technologies, including smart grid solutions and cybersecurity measures, which play a critical role in making grids more stable, efficient, and secure. Electricity demand in the Philippines is expected to double by 2040, necessitating strong investment in the country’s smart grid infrastructure and new opportunities for U.S. companies. As a leading developer and deployer of smart grid technologies and services, the U.S. private sector is well-positioned to become a leading partner to the Philippines’ distribution utilities and regulators as they modernize, digitalize and strengthen the grid infrastructure.
