USTDA Advances U.S. AI Leadership Through Southeast Asia Pilot Project

Bangkok, Thailand – The U.S. Trade and Development Agency is extending American leadership in artificial intelligence (AI) and countering malign influence in the digital economy by bringing U.S. AI technology to e-commerce in Thailand and across Southeast Asia. Today, USTDA signed an agreement with Thailand-based e-commerce platform provider aCommerce Group Public Company Limited (aCommerce) to pilot the integration of advanced U.S. generative AI and cloud solutions into its platform. aCommerce has selected Washington-based AI solutions provider Ai-ssistance LLC (Ai-ssistance) to lead the pilot, underpinned by cloud services from Washington-based Microsoft Corporation.

“By facilitating the use of this U.S. technology in Thailand, USTDA is advancing America’s global AI leadership while delivering high-quality solutions to our overseas partners,” said Thomas R. Hardy, USTDA’s Deputy Director. “This project will promote democratic AI principles like transparency and accountability, offering a trusted alternative to models that rely on surveillance and censorship.”

Through the USTDA-funded feasibility study, Ai-ssistance will bring cutting-edge tools to aCommerce’s platform, including dynamic content generation, sales automation, and AI-powered shopping assistants tailored to enhance e-commerce operations. This deployment will demonstrate the seamless integration of U.S. hardware, software, and services. The pilot will assess system design, implementation, testing, and quality assurance. If successful, the project will scale across aCommerce’s operations in Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Singapore, opening new doors for U.S. AI and cloud solutions providers.

This project will give local businesses access to advanced U.S. technology that helps them succeed in the regional marketplace. It will also give small businesses the affordable, scalable digital tools they need to compete with larger competitors like China-based Alibaba.

Paul Srivorakul, Group CEO at aCommerce, said: “We are proud to partner with USTDA to bring unparalleled American AI expertise directly to Southeast Asian entrepreneurs and businesses. This program acts as a vital catalyst, accelerating our timeline to deploy advanced U.S. Cloud and Generative AI solutions. By integrating trusted U.S. generative AI and cloud expertise into our platform, we are giving local businesses the advanced digital tools they need to compete, scale, and define the future of e-commerce in our region.”

Jeffrey Logan Carroll, CEO of Ai-ssistance, said: “We are thrilled to partner with aCommerce to bring American AI-first sales tech directly to sellers across Asia Pacific. USTDA’s support has been catalytic in fostering this U.S.-Asia digital trade relationship — positioning U.S. technology at the heart of how merchants and brands scale in an AI future.”
