Laura Whitman is a Country Manager for Africa and the Middle East at the U.S. Trade and Development Agency. In this capacity, she is responsible for business development, project preparation and evaluation, and supervision of USTDA energy sector activities in the region. She is also a member of the agency’s energy industry team, co-leading the traditional energy and power and electricity transmission and distribution subsector teams. Ms. Whitman also co-leads the Agency’s U.S. Global Gas Initiative.

Before joining USTDA, Ms. Whitman worked as a contractor providing research and analytical support to the agency’s sub-Saharan Africa team. Her previous professional experience includes work in U.S. government and trade association settings.

Ms. Whitman holds a Master’s of Public Policy degree and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government and Politics from the University of Maryland, College Park.
