Paul Alvaro Marin is the Director for Public Affairs at the U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA), a U.S. government agency that helps U.S. businesses create jobs through the export of their goods and services for priority infrastructure projects in emerging economies. USTDA links U.S. companies to global export opportunities by providing early project preparation assistance that matches U.S. technological expertise with overseas infrastructure development needs – creating lasting business partnerships between the U.S. companies and emerging market economies.

As Director for Public Affairs, Mr. Marin oversees USTDA’s digital media, public outreach and external communications strategies to amplify the Agency’s success in meeting its unique mission.

Mr. Marin previously served for three years at the National Security Council as the Director for International Trade, Investment and Nuclear Energy Policy, and as the Acting Senior Director for International Trade and Investment. In these roles, he oversaw the coordination of White House priorities that support U.S. jobs through exports and inward investment.

Mr. Marin has also served as USTDA’s Regional Director for Sub-Saharan Africa, Assistant Director for Policy and Program, and Country Manager for Southeast Asia.

Mr. Marin holds a B.A. in International Relations and German, Phi Beta Kappa, from Bucknell University and a M.A. in International Economics from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies.
