Kenya: Kentegra Pyrethrum Refined Extract Capacity Expansion Project

The Grantee invites submission of qualifications and proposal data (collectively referred to as the “Proposal”) from interested U.S. firms that are qualified on the basis of experience and capability to execute a Feasibility Study (“Study”) for a design and fabrication package for a new manufacturing facility for pyrethrum extraction processing (“Project”) in Kenya (“Host Country”). The Proposal submission deadline is November 16, 2022 at 5 p.m. EDT. The U.S. firm selected will be paid in U.S. dollars from a $661,000 grant to Kentegra Biotechnology (EPZ) Limited (“Kentegra” or “Grantee”) from the U.S. Trade and Development Agency.

About the Grantee

Kentegra is a Nairobi-based biotechnology company specializing in the production of organic insecticide pyrethrum for home biocide, agricultural and pharmaceutical pesticide markets.

About the Study

The objective of the Study is to provide Kentegra with a design and fabrication package for a new manufacturing facility for pyrethrum extraction processing in Kenya. The Study will prepare the necessary engineering designs, drawings, and documentation for the Project. The Study will also include process hazards analysis (PHA) and hazard and operability study (HAZOP) studies, which would assess any potential process hazards and administrative controls that can be put in place. The Terms of Reference (TOR) for this Feasibility Study are included as Annex I to the Grant Agreement, attached as Appendix 3 to this RFP.
